Travel documents

Necessary travel documents will vary depending on your destination and relevant arrival and transfer conditions.  

ID

You only need a valid ID card for all flights within the European Union. You can find out which other countries only require an ID card at “Viaggiare Sicuri”. Your driving license in Italy isn’t considered a valid travel document, and the same applies abroad.  

Passport

For flights outside the European Union you will need a valid passport. Some countries will also require a visa. Find more information on the website of the Italian Police Department (www.poliziadistato.it). 


Travelling to the USA

If you’ve booked a return ticket to the USA a visa isn’t necessary. All you need is to apply for a ”Visa Waiver Program”. N.B.: This type of visa will expire after 90 days.


Travelling with minors

Necessary documents minors need to have a valid ID to be allowed to travel. Children and teenagers under 14 can only travel if accompanied by a parent or their proxy - the latter has to be formally approved by the court. Find more information on the website of the Italian Police Department.
